I have always loved exploring new places, new restaurants and different cuisines. Being a vegetarian, I am extra cautious while choosing a restaurant. I go through the menu, check the reviews, and the place that has ample vegetarian options becomes my pick.
Having lived in the South Surrey–White Rock area for quite some time, I've discovered that it's home to a diverse range of restaurants serving cuisines from around the world. Whether it's Indian cuisine, handcrafted pizza, Mexican, or cozy cafes, the South Surrey and White Rock neighbourhood has ample options to offer.
I am going to list the restaurants that are my personal go–to’s. This isn't a list of restaurants I've found online. These are places I've personally visited, dishes I've actually eaten, and restaurants I'd happily recommend to family and friends.
So, if you're wondering where to eat in South Surrey and White Rock, here's my growing list of favorites.
Indian Restaurants in South Surrey
If there's one cuisine I keep coming back to, it's Indian food. Being able to find restaurants that serve Indian flavours while still offering something unique always makes me happy. Luckily, South Surrey has some fantastic options.
1. Those Indian Guys ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I had to recommend just one restaurant to someone visiting South Surrey, Those Indian Guys would be right at the top of my list.
Every single visit has been consistently good, and what I appreciate most is that they don't just stick to traditional recipes. They bring a modern twist to Indian street food while keeping the flavours authentic.

What I've Tried
Mushroom Bao – My Favourite
Feel Good Phenomenon Bowl
The Humble Paneer Wrap
Corn Ribs
Chaat Potatoes
Onion Rings
Mushroom Galouti Kathi Roll
Honestly, I've enjoyed every single dish I've ordered.
The Mushroom Bao is one of the dishes that I have tried the most number of times, and each time the taste is consistent, the flavours are intact, and the bao is fluffy and soft. It's one of those dishes you immediately want to order again.
The Feel Good Phenomenon Bowl is exactly what its name promises—a wholesome, colourful bowl that's filling without feeling heavy.
If you're someone who loves wraps, don't miss The Humble Paneer Wrap. It's packed with flavour, generously filled, and perfect for lunch.
The Corn Ribs and Chaat Potatoes make excellent sharing plates. They're crispy, well-seasoned, and impossible to stop eating once you start.
The Mushroom Galouti Kathi Roll is another standout, offering rich spices wrapped in soft bread that makes every bite delicious. It does have some scope for improvement for me, in terms of spices and texture; however, in totality it does have an amazing taste.
Why I Love It
Creative Indian fusion dishes
Consistently delicious food
Excellent vegetarian options
Fresh ingredients
Great presentation
Great Founders
Would I Return? Absolutely. In fact, I already have, many times.
2. Krishna Dosa ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Whenever I'm craving South Indian food, Krishna Dosa is always a reliable choice.
Their menu is extensive, but the dishes I've tried have never disappointed.
What I've Ordered
Chole Bhature
Mysore Masala Dosa
Onion Rava Masala Dosa
Idly & Vada Combo
The Mysore Masala Dosa has a lovely crisp texture with just the right amount of spice. The chutneys pair beautifully with it, making every bite enjoyable.
The Onion Rava Masala Dosa is equally impressive. It's thin, crispy, and packed with flavour, making it one of my favourites on the menu.
If you're in the mood for North Indian comfort food instead, the Chole Bhature is another solid choice. The bhature are fluffy, and the chole are flavourful enough to satisfy those comfort-food cravings. They are both comforting and delicious.
Best For
Authentic South Indian meals
Weekend family lunches
Dosa lovers
3. House of Dosa ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's impossible to talk about South Indian food in the area without mentioning House of Dosa.
I've tried their:
Mysore Masala Dosa
Idli Sambar
Their dosa has a wonderful crispy texture, while the idlis are soft, light, and pair beautifully with the sambar.
One thing I enjoy is comparing different dosa restaurants because each has its own style. While Krishna Dosa and House of Dosa both serve excellent South Indian food, each has its own unique flavour profile, which makes trying both worthwhile.
If you're someone who appreciates authentic South Indian cuisine, I'd definitely recommend giving both restaurants a visit and deciding which one becomes your favourite.
Cafés in South Surrey
Sometimes all you need is a quiet café, a warm drink, and something sweet.
These two cafés have become some of my favourite spots whenever I'm looking for exactly that.
1. Bean & Berry Café ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bean & Berry has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere that it's easy to lose track of time here.
Whether you're catching up with friends, working remotely for a few hours, or simply treating yourself, it's a lovely place to spend an afternoon.

What I've Tried
Cappuccino
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie
Chocolate-Smothered Strawberry Cup
The cappuccino is smooth and comforting—exactly what you hope for from a neighbourhood café.
But the real stars are the desserts.
The Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie perfectly balances sweetness with rich peanut butter flavour. They bake it fresh every day, and it shows in the taste. It is soft, delicious, chocolaty and has such an amazing taste of peanut butter.
The Chocolate-Smothered Strawberry Cup feels indulgent without being overwhelming. If you enjoy chocolate-covered strawberries, this dessert is definitely worth ordering.
Why I Love It
Cozy atmosphere
Great coffee
Delicious desserts
Perfect for casual catch-ups
Amazing Hosts
2. Bandra Café ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bandra Café offers something a little different.
Inspired by the vibrant cafés you'll find in Mumbai, it blends Indian flavours with modern café culture, to create a unique dining experience that's both comforting and stylish.
What I've Ordered
Masala Tea
Bombay Vada Pav Slider
Momos
The Masala Tea immediately reminded me of home—warm, aromatic, and comforting.
The Bombay Vada Pav Slider delivers that classic street-food flavour in a fun, café-style presentation. It's packed with flavour and pairs perfectly with a hot cup of tea. It’s my favourite from here.
The Momos were another pleasant surprise and rounded out the meal nicely.
Beyond the food, the café has a welcoming vibe and a great view that's ideal for meeting friends or enjoying a relaxed afternoon.

Pizza, Burritos & Quick Bites: More Places Worth Visiting
While Indian food is definitely my comfort cuisine, I also love exploring different kinds of restaurants depending on my mood. Sometimes it's a customizable pizza night, sometimes a quick burrito bowl after a busy day, and sometimes just an easy meal with friends.
These are a few more places I've enjoyed in South Surrey.
1. Pizza Garden ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Whenever I'm craving classic pizza with fresh ingredients, Pizza Garden is one of my go-to spots.
What I've Tried
Vegetariano Pizza
The Vegetariano is loaded with fresh vegetables, generous cheese, and a flavourful tomato base that doesn't overpower the toppings. The crust has a nice balance—crispy on the outside while staying soft enough to hold all the toppings together.
One thing I appreciate about Pizza Garden is that the ingredients always taste fresh. It doesn't feel overly greasy, making it a great option whether you're grabbing a quick slice or ordering a whole pizza for a movie night.
Best For
Pizza nights with family
Casual lunches
Quick takeout
Would I Order Again? Absolutely.
2. Blaze Pizza ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you enjoy customizing your meal exactly the way you like it, Blaze Pizza is a fun experience.
Unlike traditional pizza restaurants, Blaze lets you build your own pizza by choosing your crust, sauce, cheese, vegetables, and toppings before it's baked fresh in front of you.
What I've Tried
Build Your Own Pizza
Cheesy Bread
One of my favourite things about Blaze is that every visit can be different. Depending on what I'm craving, I can completely change my pizza without getting bored.
The Cheesy Bread is also worth adding to your order if you're sharing a meal. It's cheesy, soft, and pairs perfectly with the dipping sauces.
Best For
Custom pizzas
Family outings
Dinner with friends
3. Bar Burrito ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sometimes you just want something filling, fresh, and quick.
That's exactly where Bar Burrito comes in.
What I've Tried
Vegetarian Burrito Bowl
Vegetarian Burrito
Both options are satisfying, packed with fresh ingredients, and surprisingly filling. I usually enjoy burrito bowls when I'm looking for something hearty without feeling too heavy, while the burrito is perfect when I'm on the go.
The best part is being able to customize your meal with different toppings, sauces, and extras.
